Summary of Issues and Rulings of the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah
📮 Definition : Ashru Dheel-Hijjah is the name for the number of days which starts from the first to the tenth of the month
📮 It's virtues:
The Scholars generally opine that the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and its evenings are noble and eminent, the rewards of deeds are multiplied in them, it's encouraged to strive in ibaadah in it and increase actions of righteousness and piety in its diverse types, from its virtues :
⓵ The statement of Allaah the blessed and Exalted
By the dawn;
By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah).
Imaam At-Tobaree رحمه الله said in his tafseer of this ayah :
The nights of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, due to the consensus of the evidence of the people of Ta'weel about it.
⓶ Allaah's تعالى statement:
{ وَأَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ بِالْحَجِّ يَأْتُوكَ رِجَالاً وَعَلَى كُلِّ ضَامِرٍ يَأْتِينَ مِنْ كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقٍ * لِيَشْهَدُوا مَنَافِعَ لَهُمْ وَيَذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَعْلُومَاتٍ }
And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, they will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj).
That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade, etc.), and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah),
Surah Al-Hajj 27&28.
Ibn Katheer رحمه mentioned in the tafseer of this ayah, narrating that Ibnu Abbaas رضي الله عنهما said: the known days are the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.
⓷ Ibnu Abbas رضي الله عنهما narrated from The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that he said:
ما من عملٍ أزكى عند الله ولا أعظم أجراً من خيرٍ يعمله في عشر الأضحى . قيل : ولا الجهادُ في سبيل الله ؟ . قال : " ولا الجهادُ في سبيل الله إلا رجلٌ خرج بنفسه وماله فلم يرجعْ من ذلك بشيء . قال وكان سعيد بن جُبيرٍ إذا دخل أيام العشر اجتهد اجتهاداً شديداً حتى ما يكاد يُقدرُ عليه "
There is no good deeds purer in the sight of Allah nor greater in reward than the good one does in the first ten days of ad-haa. Then some (companions) asked: Not even Jihad in the path of Allah?" He replied: Not even Jihad the path of Allah, except that of a man (who does it) by going out with himself and his wealth and does not return with anything at that. And Sa'eed Ibnu Juabyr whenever the first days come in, he exerts himself intensely that he almost gets overpowered.
Ad-Darimee (1815) transmitted it with an authentic chain.
⓸ Ibnu Abbas رضي الله عنهما narrated from The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that he said:
ما من أيامٍ العمل الصالح فيها أحبُّ إلى الله من هذه الأيامِ ( يعني أيامَ العشر ) . قالوا : يا رسول الله ، ولا الجهادُ في سبيل الله ؟ قال : ولا الجهادُ في سبيل الله إلا رجلٌ خرج بنفسه وماله فلم يرجعْ من ذلك بشيء "
"There are no days in which a righteous deed done in it is more beloved to Allah than these (first ten days of ad-haa) . Then some (companions) asked: Not even Jihad in the path of Allah?" He replied: Not even Jihad in the path of Allah, except that of a man who goes out with himself and his wealth and does not return with anything at that.
Abu Dawud 2438 transmitted it ans Shaykh Al-Albaanee authenticated it.
⓹ In it is the day of Arafah, and the day of Arafah is the day of the great hajj, a day of forgiveness of sins, a day of freedom from the fire and if there was no virtue in the first ten days except the day of Arafah, it would be sufficient at that as a virtue.
⓺ In it is the day of Nahr(sacrificing the Legislatd animal) which is the most virtues of days of the year as considered by some scholars, the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
أَعْظَمُ الْأَيَّامِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمُ النَحر ثُمَّ يَوْمُ الْقُرِّ
the greatest of days in the sight of Allaah is the day of Nahr then Al-Qorr.
Abu Dawud transmitted it and Al-Albaanee 1549 authenticated it.
